XBit Labs reports that we won’t see Prescott EEs in the year 2004.
Ehhhh.
It then goes on to say not to expect any Prescott Xeons in 2004, either.
Now that is important good news, for AMD.
We don’t talk much about servers here, but the high-speed Opterons compete very well against Xeons. If AMD doesn’t have any more problem with 90nm transition than they’ve said so far, the performance gap will increase even more.
AMD needs any break it can get to break into the server market, and this is a pretty big one. It should help sell more Opterons next year.
