Not All 2100+

Just in case you’re under the impression that all 2100+s are the latest and greatest TBredBs, here’s an email I just got:

I have just purchased An “ XP2100 Thoroughbred A “ In the UK the stepping is:

AXDA2100DKV3C 4114236277800
AIRCA 0234MPM

It’s a brown chip assembled in Malaysia

Have no idea how well it overclocks at this stage.

As you can see from the codes, it’s a TBredA that was made around the end of August.

This is why you need to be very, very careful and find out what you’re going to get before you get it. Otherwise, you can get burned.

Also understand that for the large majority of people who don’t overclock, what type of chip they end up with makes no practical difference to the buyer. It only makes
a difference to the overclocker. For that reason, it doesn’t matter to the average reseller, either.

If you want the cream of the crop, you’ll have to work to get it. If you don’t like that, it makes no sense to spend all kinds of time trying to overclock a chip, and spend no time paying attention to what you’re getting to overclock.

And really, if the only way you learn is to get personally burned, that’s not the best way to approach this, or life. They call it “Ready, Aim, Fire.” not “Ready, Fire, Aim” for a reason. 🙂

Think, then do, not the other way around.
