NVIDIA Announces a Date for the GTX 780 Ti & Price Cuts

We always love a good competition, and NVIDIA isn’t resting on their laurels. After the launch of AMD’s R9 290X (which by all accounts puts the GTX 780 in its place and rivals the TITAN), NVIDIA certainly isn’t resting on its laurels.

Today’s biggest news is that NVIDIA has decided on an official launch date for the as-yet-to-be evaluated GTX 780 Ti. There are plenty of rumors out there about it, which range from slightly better than the GTX 780 to better than the TITAN for gaming. We don’t know how accurate either of those are, but we know a bit more about the GPU than we did yesterday.

NVIDIA has set a launch date of November 7th for the GTX 780 Ti, at an MSRP of $699.

Now, what’s the best thing about tight competition in the GPU space? Say it with me everybody – PRICE WARS!

The bottom just dropped out of the current lineup’s price. Effective tomorrow at 6:00 am, the GTX 780 is going to have a suggested e-tail price of $499 and the GTX 770 is dropping to $329.

That’s not the only thing though. NVIDIA has a bundle to offer with all of these GPUs, including the new one.

GTX 780 Ti will also be a part of our “The Way It’s Meant to Be Played Holiday Bundle with SHIELD” promotion:

· Purchase a GTX 780 Ti/780/770 and receive a free copy of Batman: Arkham Origins, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, plus $100 off a SHIELD purchase.

· Purchase a GTX 760/660 and receive Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, plus $50 off a SHIELD purchase.

They also just launched their new GeForce Experience 1.7 and the public release of Shadow Play.

Today also marks the launch of GeForce Experience 1.7 and the beta release of GeForce ShadowPlay, a free, fast, easy-to-use, gameplay-recording mode that allows you to record video of your most exciting gaming moments and share it with the world. You can read more about GeForce Experience 1.7 and ShadowPlay here: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/geforce-experience-1-7-launches-with-geforce-shadowplay

Last, but not least there are some SHIELD related announcements they wanted to share.

Today, we’ve unleashed a massive update to our SHIELD gaming portable which allows thousands of games to benefit from the console-grade controller, brings Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to SHIELD, and introduces other new features including:

  • Console Mode, which turns SHIELD into a portable living room game console. Pair up a Bluetooth controller and sit back on your couch and play Android games, browse the Web, and watch your favorite movies all in native HD at 1080p.
  • NVIDIA GameStream (formally known as PC streaming), is officially launching today and is also Console Mode-ready. So you’ll be able to stream your PC games to – and enjoy them on – the big screen.
  • SHIELD Gamepad Mapper, which allows you to create your own custom controls for thousands of games on Google Play, or use NVIDIA’s default profiles now available for more than a hundred (and counting) top Android games, making everything from “NBA Jam” to “Temple Run” playable on SHIELD’s console-grade controller. The default profiles are automatically downloaded from the cloud so you can just launch your game and play. Full list of NVIDIA default profiles are below the fold.

There’s a video too.

Things are heating up in the GPU world, and that’s not just because AMD’s new GPUs run scorchingly hot. NVIDIA isn’t going to be caught without an answer, beit price or performance.

PRICE AND PERFORMANCE WARS!

Gotta love ’em.

This is great news. I wonder if we'll see even cheaper prices on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

I was thinking of getting a GTX 780 until EarthDog mentioned that he couldn't go ultra on Crysis 3 -- although he didn't mention what resolution he was running at. I haven't gone green since the GeForce 2/GTS.

I have almost DOUBLE the pixels you have, I just learned. I run at 2560x1440 versus your 1600x1200 or 1280x1024.

I will expect AMD will respond with another price drop of some kind maybe not 150$ but probably 50$ or so to match nvidia's 780.

I assume they will leave the 280x where it is though and then quickly release another "AMD NEVER SETTLE FOREVER" Gaming bundle with more games to counter the value added on these nvidia cards.

I will wait abit longer and see but this has also changed my thought process aswell i may buy a 780 if the 290x stays around 550+$ or the 590$ its currently at in canadian retailers which is total bs tbh because the 780GTX Nvidia cards are also $499 here and one is onsale for $480.

You should have known they would drop though the 780 prices were obviously gouging and unrealistic the prices would have dropped 5hrs after you bought your card if amd had released theirs that day.

Its a lesson to people , Don't buy overpriced poop from computer hardware companies.

A GTX 780 is not poop. :sly:
Overpriced? Yes. It was. $499 is reasonable though.

So I guess they just admitted they have been over charging?

I've been leaning towards AMD for my BF4/COD upgrade but at least this gives me options...
