2011 XtremeSystems CES Party

This year was my first attending CES, and I took the opportunity while in town to join Fugger and his gang of miscreants at the XS party to enjoy some good company, warm food, cold drinks, and frozen processors. While this wasn’t an Overclockers.com event, I’m happy to cover it as thanks to Fugger for the hospitality and as thanks from the Overclocking community for a great event.

AMD 6870 Video Card Review

Ahh, new generations of video cards. Gamers and overclockers eagerly await their arrival every time a new one comes around. This one was met with a bit of controversy when rumors circulated that AMD was changing the numbering scheme. That they did, but is the relatively inexpensive 6870 a stout contender – especially for the price? Let’s find out.

LN2Cooling.com Evaporator Under Dry Ice

Tested with Phenom II X6 1090T overclocking… I got in touch with a friend and he agreed to let me take one of his cooling pots for a spin. Aaron Schradin of LN2Cooling.com has lent me an excellent pot to play around with and review for all of you guys. This pot is usually meant for the purpose of running under LN2 and LHe4. This is seen in the many AMD world record breaking overclocking attempts, which can all be seen over at amdblackops.com. However I will be playing around with the dry ice performance of this pot, which has mostly gone overlooked until now. Includes Overclockers.com exclusive video. See it first here!

Thermalright Shaman Review

We have a GPU cooler here which has the “World’s First” moniker attached to its resumé, the Thermalright Shaman. The 8 heatpipes justify this moniker, and it has at least 2 more heatpipes than any other GPU air cooling solution out there. As time permitted over the past couple of weeks, I’ve used my GTX 460 1 GB to test the Shaman against Prolimatech’s MK-13 and eVGA’s “External Exhaust” stock cooler. Today, we take a closer look at the the heatsink itself and its performance.

Jolly’s CM-690 Case Mod v2.0

It’s been 3 years since I got this CM-690 Case. With its current hardware configuration it has served me well, but alas it’s time to move forward and update both the case and some of the hardware. This will be a summary overview of my project. Enjoy!

NZXT Vulcan Case Review

I’ve been in the market for a new computer case for quite some time. My little Antec Aria has served me well, but I’ve been experiencing a growing need for something with more flexibility. I’ve actually been on the search for the right case for over a year now, but the need hasn’t been pressing enough to rush me. Thus, I’ve been able to take my time and select one that fits all of my needs. These needs are, in no particular order: mATX, full-size PSU, lots of ventilation, small footprint, many cooling options, easy to work in, super stylish, and reasonably priced. When the NZXT Vulcan was offered up for review, after looking over specs and photos for a few days, I realized this may be just what I’d been looking for.
