Stitching Shut A Broken Lip

I read with interest the story of how to get a broken lip on a socket not to matter and be able to use the socket just the same.

I’ve been doing a similar mod having broken off many slockets and not wanting to scrap them. It’s similar to the one on the page, but a little simpler.

You just pop the fan off your heatsink, and weave some wire through the heatsink fins from one of the alternate side lips to the opposite alternate one.

Obviously, you have to ensure proper contact with the CPU core, but once done, you can really tighten the wire and get it REALLY firm on the core.

You often get better contact this way than just snapping on a heasink/fan combo to the “regular” lips.
