Mushkin Redline Frostbyte DDR4 Review

Up on the test bench today is a DDR4 offering from Mushkin Enhanced. Their Redline Frostbyte features speedy XMP profiles and aggressive styling, but will it be compatible with AMD’s newest generation of motherboards? Memory compatibility on AMD’s X570 series platform is still problematic at best. Many of the memory kits on the market today were designed with Intel platforms in mind. Choosing a kit of memory at random and expecting it to work flawlessly on AMD platforms could end in a comparability nightmare. We’d like to explore this memory further and put it to the test on our AMD X570 based test bench. Read More

Mushkin Helix-L 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD Review

The Helix-L purports to be a budget offering with good performance (Up to 1700/1500 MB/s R/W) and a solid value per GB. The Helix uses again uses a Silicon Motion controller and runs without a DRAM module (cost savings) but uses HMB (Host Memory Buffer) and system RAM similar to how drives with integrated DRAM work as well. We’ll put the drive through its paces and see how the DRAMless drive performs! Read More

CES 2017: Mushkin Displays New SSDs, RGB Keyboard and More

One of our stops at CES 2017 led us to our friends at Mushkin and Edge. Mushkin showed off a new m.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD drive named, Helix. It uses a Silicon Motion SM2260 SSD controller using 3D MLC flash. This brings speeds of up to 2500MB reads and 1100MB writes along with 185K write IOPS. The 3D MLC NAND is going to give you more performance and endurance versus TLC based NAND. We should expect to see this drive hit the market in the coming months. Read More

Mushkin atom 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Following in the wake of the Mushkin IMPACT review we come in today with the Mushkin atom! Instead of looking at a flash drive built for raw speed we take a bit of a detour today. The atom is an absolutely tiny 128GB USB 3.0 flash drive which is meant to be ultra portable without sacrificing capacity. Who’s ready to see how much punch Mushkin packed into the atom? Read More
