Thermalright HR-22 CPU Heatsink Pictured

Today, Thermalright announced the Archon heatsink, a new tower CPU cooler. The cooler is thinner than standard tower heatsinks, which Thermalright claims will eliminate compatibility issues with large memory heatspreaders. Boasting compatibility with Intel’s 1156 and 1366 sockets, the Archon also comes with the same AMD bracket system as the Venomous X. Also included is a 140 mm TY-140 fan, but users can mount their own 120 or 140 mm fan.

Once again, I am looking at another high performance heatsink from Thermalright. They have been a consistent manufacturer of high performance air cooling solutions for quite a few years now and still are counted as one of the “go-to” manufacturers when considering the purchase of a high performance cooling solution for your computer’s processor. Today, I will be looking at the MUX-120 Black, which is a mid priced cooling solution that comes standard with a PWM fan and mounting hardware for both AMD and Intel systems. We will see today if this cooler is worth the $55 plus shipping that I paid for it or if there are more cost effective solutions out there in the bang/buck bracket.

I usually like to learn as much about a product I’m reviewing as possible before it even arrives. However, I wasn’t expecting this one, and didn’t really have time to do a ton of research. Since I’ve never done a heatsink review, I was pleasantly surprised when I was asked if I’d like to test this cooler. You may never have heard of Cogage. Neither had I when I received this product. As it turns out, it’s made by an extremely well-known company, who makes top-notch air cooling solutions. If the name of this heatsink doesn’t give it away, try to figure it out by looking at the pictures below. There are certain features that make the manufacturer a dead giveaway.
