Which Is It?

For months, we have had no idea how much an nForce3 Opteron board was going to cost.

Now we have a price. Well, actually, we have two rather different prices.

Newegg shows a price of $199.99.

The price tag for the same board at GameVe.com and MyInfinity.com is more like $299.

Newegg says the product won’t be available until August 1. The others at least give the impression it’s available now.

We have two possibilities here:

1) Newegg got the price wrong or

2) The others are getting while the getting is good.

I would lean to the latter.

Given that the cost of the cheapest Opteron with this mobo makes a PIV/Canterwood combo look cheap, I don’t see a stampede in the making.
