The RIAA is trying to stem the digital music tide – the MPAA is doing the same for movies.
The positions the RIAA has taken against P2P downloading at one time involved suing individuals for their digital transgressions. Wisely backing off this draconian tactic, the RIAA is still pursuing tactics to somehow stop file sharing.
The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) is now in a trial against RealDVD, alleging that folks copying their own DVDs is NOT fair use; in fact they go so far as to say that ANY copy – even if it’s on your own PC’s HD and can NOT be copied by anyone else – is illegal.
