I'm about to buy the ABIT NF7-S nForce2 Chipset Motherboard. I'll most likley be getting the Mobile XP 2500, maybe the 2600. I dont know why type of RAM to get, but I want to O/C with this system as much as I'll be able to with air cooling for now, while I save up for a water cooling system :)

Motherboard Specifications:
Supported CPU: AMD Duron/Athlon/Athlon XP Processors
Chipset: NVIDIA nForce2 SPP + MCP-T
FSB: 400/333/266MHz
RAM: 3x DIMM for DDR333/266 Max 3GB, 2x DIMM for DDR400 Max 2GB
IDE: 2x ATA 133 up to 4 Devices
Slots: 1x AGP 8X/4X, 5x PCI
Ports: 2xPS/2,2xCOM,1xLPT,SPDIF Out,6xUSB2.0(Rear 2),1xLAN,Audio Ports
Onboard Audio: nVIDIA SoundStorm APU(Dolby 5.1) + 6-Channel AC97 CODEC
Onboard LAN: 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet
Onboard SATA/RAID: 2x Serial ATA, RAID 0/1
Onboard 1394: 2 Ports
Form Factor: ATX

Sooo... 3x DIMM for DDR333/266 Max 3GB, 2x DIMM for DDR400 Max 2GB That basically means I should use the two DIMM slots for DDR400 and get two sticks of PC3200 (DDR400 200MHz) RAM, is that what you would do?

I would get two sticks of PC3200 for two reasons

1) You will be able to reach crazy FSB speeds with most mobile CPUs, over 200MHz in many cases.

2) You will be able to use the dual channel feature of the NForce2 chipsets. Dual channel means your board can access two sticks of RAM at the same time, yielding a small performance increase of about 10%.

Okay David, that is what I'm going to do. Now I'm just trying to figure out what the popular brands are for O/C'ers :) Any suggestions? Thank you.

I have had 3 or 4 sticks of Crucial RAM (2 PC133 and 2 PC2100 I think) and have never had a problem with any of them.

Yes, I've used countless sticks of crucial in the past as well, never had any problems with it either, I guess I'll just look for the cheapest 512 sticks of PC3200 :)

Kingston ValueRAM Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 - Retail

Newegg got that for $159.00 - What do ya'll think? Will I have any problems with it trying to reach 2.5GHz with Abit NF7-S and Mobile 2500+?

well I read some reviews at newegg - they where saying it wasnt that good for o/c'ing.

So instead as of right now I'm getting the Mushkin 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 Level One Dual Pack - Retail. That product had some really good newegg reviews about o/c'ing with it. It's $100.00 more though :(
