when i go to reformat my hdd it will say windows is not configuring your hardware or something like that then it usually enters the setup, but now it just reboots after that ??

yes, that is what im talking about, im running a p4 1.7 512mb of ram 80 gigs of space, and i have put windows xp on here before, it wont work on my other computer which i have put windows xp on before, but im only wanting to reformat my 1.7

problem solved.....it was the xp disk

lol i've had a bad xp cd or 2 before, that's very frustrating... especially after you've already formatted

It is amazing how many install problems come from a dirty or scratched disk.
