That definitly helps =) and looks like way to much trouble for me...
Back to the drawing board.
EDIT: Looks like the ASUS P5E is the best bet, if I want a good motherboard, with Yorkfield support and combatible (without modification) with the Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme.

Wait a second... does thermalright actually say you should simply remove the northbridge, southbridge, and mosfets coolers?
I'm afraid somebody will follow the instructions but not put anything else on instead...

i have the Thermalright Ultra 120 not the Extreme version and that fits fine on my GA-X38-DQ6 .
one thing that im wondering about is can u put the HR-05 SLI/IFX on the NB with a Thermalright Ultra. and if i did the same for the southbridge would that get in the way for crossfire.
