Well here's my new comp:

--------------------------------------------
ATX Tower Case CF-2029
Enermax 450W Whisper

Asus P4PE-L
Intel 2.4B
Samsung 512mb pc2700
Radeon 9700 Pro

Western Digital 120gb special edition
Asus 52X CD-ROM
LiteOn 40/12/48 CD-RW
Floppy

Windows XP Professional SP1
ATI Catalyst 2.5 Vesion: 6.13.10.6218
-----------------------------------------------------

This is what's showing in Control Panel > System

1. I'm getting something similiar when I run directx diagonistic tools too, it says my CPU core speed is 1.8Ghz and somewhere else it shows 2.4Ghz. How come I'm getting two different numbers?

2. Is there any way I can check if my radeon9700 is the pro version? In display properties it only says it's Radeon9700 series.

3. I had stuttering problems with No One Lives Forever I (not II). Then I tried NFSHP2, seems to be okay but I was kinda expecting better performance from the 9700. How do you fix the stuttering problem?

4. With 4xAF 4xAA I only got 9000 in 3DMARK2001, with AA AF disabled or app. preference I get a score of 10930. I heard 9700 pro should be around 13K in 3DMARK?

Thanks for the help :)

it's because your FSB is set to 100 MHz... you need to go into the BIOS and change it to 133 MHz...

aznsound hit the nail on the head. I had the same problem with my xp1800+ showing as 1145 Mhz, had to go into bios and change FSB 133, that brought it up to 1530 and now it's recognized as an XP1800+

OMG you're right! My new 3DMARK is 13569 with AA and AF off. This is a huge difference. Thanks man!

Just a couple things I want to make sure:

1. This

means I indeed got an Intel 2.4Ghz right?

2. Here
c2.gif
is what I'm getting now with the FSB changed to 133Mhz from 100Mhz. My vendor said he won't be responsible if I break anything from overclocking. In the case of (1), if I indeed got a 2.4Ghz chip, making it running at 2.41Ghz isn't overclocking is it?

3. If it is not the case of (1), what CPU did I get? 1.8Ghz one?

No, that processor is made to run at a 133 fsb. Your CPU will be fine.

The multiplier is what, like 18 or so, so 18 x 133 (fsb) = 2394 mhz

When the fsb was at 100 it was 18 x 100 = 1800 mhz
