M_N, those are some really good points. (And BTW, I really want you to know that I wasn't trying to be critical -- I think this poll is a wonderful idea and is a lot of fun! :)) And you're certainly right -- measurement techniques are always a little questionable, so to some extent, there's no sense in sweating it so much. ;)

A C/W poll could be very informative and educational to the participants. Fun idea!

And once again, I think this is a really fun poll! And I participated, too. For the record, about 45 or 46C load, maybe 42 or 43C idle, case temps usually in the 33C-35C range.

Thanks again, and keep up the good work! -- Paul

56° - 60° in reasonably strenuous use.

49° system temp most of time.

Room is quite cool.

New HSF soon, and hopefully lower system temp.

Idle 30°C, load 36°C, amb 21°C
This is on a water cooled, non oc'd PIV 2.66
OC'ing to 3.0 (150 fsb, stock voltage) brought my load temps up to about 40°C. This was after about 12 hrs of Prime 95. Unfortunately it was not a completely stable oc so I went back to stock fsb. I am going to try again and raise the voltage, so I guess that my load temps will be going up. This is a great poll, if used to get a general feel for CPU temps, but I don't see any way to make it truly accurate, just too many variables.

Load around 41C
Idle around 36C

Overclocked via FSB only @ (I think) 1776MHz.

This is an AMD Athlon XP Pally 2000+ AGIOA with a nice (forgot brand) copper and aluminum HSF. Using ANTEC SILVER.

load = 35.5°C
Idle = 30°C

Cooling is by 4 80mm case fans dual psu fans and a Global Win CAK4-88T! I use Artic Silver 3 and have a shim (because I already crushed a core! lol)

idle = 46°C
load = 51°C
ambient/sys = 29°C (it's burning up in here still)

edit: i'm an idiot. it only says that after you've voted the first time. :bang head
:D

My load temps seem to be on the high side, judging by the poll...

idle: 39-40
load: 55

This is with a Aeroflow and good old fashioned open case.

Hmmm.. as I'm sub zero all the time the answers don't fit me... ;)

But I did check the boxes that were closest...

Donno what IDLE is, but my LOAD temp after 12-13 of Prime95 was about 38c That is with a stock, unlapped heatsink, a 60mm fan and a 120mm sunon blowong ontop of all of that

My die sensor temp load - 56C
in socket sensor temp load - 52C

die sensor temp idle - 46C
in socket temp idle - 46C

I'm running an XP2100+ at 1.93GHz on an A7N8X-Deluxe PCB 1.6 in a Lian-Li PC60-USB with all the cables out of the way. Retail HSF and case fans.
