Hi,

I have a 1000mhz t-bird (10x100) running at 1200mhz (9x133)

I have used him for about 1 week now, and everything was going
very well, very very stable. No problem at all.
My idle temp was about 24-26°C and case temp is 16-18°C

But now, my idle temps has gone skyhigh?!!
Now it's at 38°C and my case temp is still the same.

Right after starting up windows, the temp at 1000mhz (10x100) WAS 36°C
and then it went down to 24-26°C
But now the starting temp is still 36°C, but instead of going down
to 24-26°C, it goes UP to 38°C and stays there, even if i leave the
computer alone. Case temp is still 16°C.

I use an Alpha PEP66 with delta (4900rmp i think, not the 6800rpm)
on an Abit KT7A mobo.

What can be wrong????
My load temps NEVER went beyond 45°C,
and now they still don't (i'm not 100% sure, i'll have to play some games
first)

What can be the reason of this sudden temp change???
Something broken maybe?
Help me please.... help me...HELP ME....HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLPPP :-(

First of all, check that you haven't moved the computer and inadvertantly blocked off some of the airflow into the bottom front of the case. This is very easy to do if you set the case on the floor an the floor is covered with carpet. You could also have placed it too close to a wall or side of the desk and be impeding the airflow that way as well.

Also what programs have you installed lately? Some may be running in the background.

nope,
no changes have been made.

My case temp is still 16°C.
In the BIOS, my temps are also 16°C for the system, 34° for the cpu.
I startup windows, the temp=34°C, i wait, the temp goes up to 38°C
and stays there.
My normal idle temp is 24-26°C

I have already reinstalled the cooler.
I cleaned everything, used arctic silver en lapped the heatsink.
All was done in the right way.

1 thing might be the reason, my brother played a few hours
SOF on the internet. Maybe it got overheated? (which never happened
before i add) Would there be someting damaged?

I really don't get it.
Everything is exactly the same as before..... ? :-(

I'm currently using a couple of ASUS' boards. they commonly report the temps in the 50C+ range, but keep in mind that they are known for inaccurate readings, typically 10C higher than actual.

I wouldn't think that temps in the upper 30's are a problem with a 1gig T-BIRD @ 1200 if you have no problems other than what the monitor says.

oke, the temps are still not so high... but there must be something wrong no??

The cputemp used to be 24-26°C, and now it's 38°C????
What is the reason of this phenomenon???
And I changed nothing.

What can be the reason of this????
It's not normal, that's for sure.

Could be a computer virus...

I just thought I might mention this, because I was recently infected by a computer virus and it caused my system performance to go down the tubes. I only suggest this, because the higher temperature could be due to your processor working harder, as opposed to fully idling. If you have been infected by a computer virus it could be working your processor to propagate itself, thus raising your temperatures when idle.

Or, it could be you recently installed some application which runs unseen in the background?

I'm not sure if either of these suggestions is the case, but I just thought I'd mention it.

I just found something out.... and it's WEIRD!!!

I'll explain:
1. I start up my pc: cputemp=34°C
2. I let it run a idle a bit, the temp goes up to 38°C
3. I play one hour of Soldier Of Fortune online,
i quit, and I look at the CPUtemp...... 30°C!!!!
4. I wait again, and I see that the temp goes up to 38°C again

So what is this??? When I load my cpu, my temp goes down.
It seems like the temp-probois working reversed!!!! Can this be????
I'm beginning to think the temp-probo of my mobo had gone nutters!! ;-)
