Well troops, I am currently in the market of buying a new hard drive and I wish to ask you for your opinions on which one I should buy out of the two I think I Thought I might have chosen. Also, I would like you to keep in mind that i store quantities, be it small or large, of music and movies. I play games such as UT2K4, Military sims, and thinking of playing a graphicly intense MMORPG. Please review the above and below and post your conclusions. At Ease.

Here you have the 120mb 8mb cache seagate for $88.99 shipped.

I would agree - 8MB will mean better performance - if you need the extra space desperately then get the other drive otherwise stick with 8MB cache.

i store varying from 30 to 60gigs of music alone dependant on how sick of hearing the drive i am and how crappy my fps is. sorry i got a carried away with the army theme, o well. i currently have a 80gig maxtor that registers at 74.5. (it isnt cutting it also, its about to die. its doing the whole clicking, freezing, and os not found bs.)

depthad all you do is complain all day.

WoW isn't really a graphically intense mmorpg.

looser.

ima kill you tomorrow in school.

hehe xero

Do you have to boot from a floppy when installing an os on a sata raptor drive? I heard you cant boot straight from the cdrom...I think I'm a little confused.

what hmmm? o, well
Sata should auto asign but i've heard that some motherboards don't support it and you have to go through the raid configuration in xp. i think the key is f6 to get there.
i've decided on the 120gig 8mb

depthad is that a sata drive your getting? Sounds like a WD drive...I have a 80gb 8mb WD drive and I haven't had one problem.

Here are my suggestions:

WD 200GB 8MB cache 3 year warranty PATA

WD 250GB 8mb cache w/ FDB (AKA quieter) 3Year warranty PATA
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-144-155&depa=0

HGST 250GB 8mb cache w/ FDB 3year Warranty (bit faster) SATA

Seagate 200GB 8mb cache 5 year warranty PATA

All of the above are good choices.

Good luck.

no i am getting an ide drive due to compatibility to my box pc mobo. if i can allocate 10 more dollars i will probley get the 200gb 8m seagate that foxy has suggested. i know ide is slower but i dont currently have a mobo to support it due to my mobo being in RMA to abit for being defective. thanks foxy. i've had issues with WD drives so i am going to stear clear of them for a while until they gain my trust again. the second mine went out of warrentee it died. well not the second but the week after. but that was before the maxtor. the maxtor has running for 4-5 years of constant abuse so i dont really mind that it died.
