Hey all.
I'm looking to upgrade to a new card. I currently have an MSI GTS250.
Is the 460 or 5830 a waste with my E7500?

:welcome: to OCForums!

Have you OCed the E7500 yet?

Since the release of the GTX460, the HD5830 will be a waste of money regardless of the chip.

Either card will be a vast improvement if you have a high enough res monitor. (1920x1200 should be enough)

the 460 is about the same price as the 5830 right? If so 460 hands down from everything I have read...

As 5850 drops in price that is when the questions really start IMHO. (last saw it for $250 on newegg, if it drops another 20-30 bucks....

Thanks for the replies.
I have the E7500 OCed to 3.2 at the moment until my Corsair HX650 arrives. I'm currently using a Raidmax Hybrid 630w and am concerned to go any higher with an OC on this PSU(I hear bad things about these PSUs). The Corsair will be here Tues. and I'm confident the E7500 will OC more than 3.2(stock voltage). I'll try for 3.6.
So it looks like a 460 is in order than. Which brand do guys recommend? I'm looking at either the EVGA or Gigabyte.

The GTX 460 1GB is the best card out now, unless this is a needed-now kind of upgrade, I'd wait and save my money 'till the ATI 6xxx series comes out :p

That's a good idea. I hear new things are to come in Oct? Maybe I'll hold out for discounts. :)
I did, however, just pick up 4GB of Kingston HyperX T1 1600 RAM( HyperX ) to replace the 4GB of Kingston 1333 value RAM I have now.
Not to get off topic, but I do play a lot of SC2. Would upgrading(subjective) to a quad core do me any good?

Matt. I never did say thanks for the welcome. Thank you. :)
