Will I see a better or worse gain in performance in database access when the Indexing Service is disabled?

Server runs Dual Xeon E5530 CPUs @ 2.4Ghz each w/ 8gb of DDR3.

Looking to pull every ounce of power I can from this machine.

Also, if you have any suggestions please let me know!!!

Thanks,
-Brandon

I'm assuming Win7/Server2008...

Both indexing and SQL server are drive-intensive tasks, particularly when SQL server has a lot of I/O (read:users). Unless you're adding a massive amount files to your drive on a daily basis, however, the performance impact of indexing after the initial run is negligible.

If you intend to search for files and/or content on this machine, indexing is invaluable and will actually provide better performance, as you'll not need to thrash around looking for things. If, however, you never intend to search for files and/or content on this machine, you might as well turn indexing off.
