that comic is awesome and so SO true never ever thought of it that way.

But then again i never think of sports games period cause i'll just go outside and play them rather to play a video game of sports.

anyway well hopefully gamestop don't screw up my pre-order for the 360 verison. Supposed to get a email code on oct 27th for the demo. Can't wait for that lol. Just might have to take the day off work :)

10 days till the pre-order demo is released, 1 month till the game goes retail.

I expect a flood of L4D news in the next month, topped off with Valves 25$ million dollar ad campaign.

What did they promise exactly? I just remember them saying more content, but nothing specific. It has a new mode and campaign right? Not much, but when I first got it I was paying for the game as it was and didn't really expect anything else for free. I also looked at one of the bug lists online, and I can honestly say the very few times I played it online, and the crapload of times I played it offline, I don't remember ever seeing any of those. The bug list was pretty crappy however, it listed "bugs" but didn't give you a step by step on how to reproduce it every time.

I just remember wishing it was at least twice as long after beating it the first time.

I guess I can see why people are mad, but I can also see why Valve released it as a new game. Every time I read about the original, you have small groups of people loving it, and the rest are whining and complaining about it, or saying things like "omgz ur still playing that game??". I figure they think even if they released the sequel as an expansion, they wouldn't get enough new players to justify the development costs. I'm guessing they opted for the whole new game route and 25m ad campaign to generate a brand new buzz instead of "oh it's just an expansion".

Team Fortress 2 developer himself : "Post launch, we'll definitely be supporting the game with downloadable content on the PC and 360 similar to what we did with Team Fortress 2; new weapons, new monsters, new characters and new campaigns."

Valve developer: "A lot of Valve's success comes from being very open and supportive of the mod community: Counter Strike, Team Fortress came from the mod community... Left 4 Dead will continue that tradition so folks can count on an SDK coming out weeks after launch."

And don't nitpick saying that because he didn't use the word "promise" all of a sudden we're supposed to play ball and disregard it.

You're a co-founder of a gaming company. Your word is your bond. Don't just go out to news outlets and say stuff like that if it's not certain.

And who are any of you to say whether other people should boycott the game or not? Since when did it become a mortal sin for people to say how they feel about products? No one's telling you to eat food that someone else doesn't like. I hate when people criticize others for putting it out there how dissatisfied they are with a product/service/company. Whatever happened to consumer reports? Reseller Ratings? All of a sudden it's bad juju to say if you feel like someone ripped you off?

Corporations really got into some of your heads, because apparently they don't even have to pay PR specialists anymore.

I paid $49.99 for a game with only 4 missions, 4 characters. I'm not buying the second game because the sole reason I bought Left 4 Dead 1 was because of all the stuff they said it was going to have.

That's like if Sony sold the PS3, saying how it was going to support Blu-ray, they were going to release Gran Turismo 5 on it and add Dual Shock, and you buy it because you want those features at launch and that's why you didn't want to initially buy it, and then afterward they're like, "Oh all that stuff is going to be on the PS4. So buy that next year!"

You don't think people in that position have a right to be upset?

I highly doubt we will see new characters / weapons / infected for L4D1.

If anything I have a good feeling they will do 2 more bridging stories like CRASH COURSE. And that will be it. L4D1 will be forgotten.

Protip, buy something because you are satisfied with what is offered on day 1, and appreciate anything else that comes along afterward. Promises are not legal binding contracts. If so Peter Molyneux would be a poor man, after all the lawsuits for missing promised content.

Protip2, never buy anything at MSRP.

Protip 3 - Don't be a corporate puppet and let companies get away with lies. If you buy something because you trust a company that has made due on their promises before and they screw you, don't buy from them ever again.

Protip 4, I paid $49.99 for a game that's forgotten- I won't make the mistake of paying $44.99 for the sequel that will only be forgotten when Left 4 Dead 3 starts being worked on. Oh wait, they're already pre-selling that and Left 4 Dead 4.

I didn't even pay $49.99 for Episode 1 or Episode 2 and those offered more hours of gaming than Left 4 Dead did.

If this game were $19.99, I'd not be on the boycott wagon. Or maybe I would.

The thing is, in October 2008, no one had doubts that Left 4 Dead would have added characters, weapons or stages. We all believed it would happen because Valve said it would.

We would've been more than happy to rate Left 4 Dead as a standalone product, if that's what Valve proposed it as, but we rated it as a core structure. A game that was "Good" with room to grow. That's what it was rated as because when people asked Valve about it, Valve said that's why it was so short in the beginning.

Do you think if when Valve launched Left 4 Dead last year at $49.99, they would've sold as many copies as they did if Valve said "You get the 4 missions it came with, with only 3 of them available for Versus mode, and that's it"? I sure as hell wouldn't have picked it up. Neither would the other friends who bought it with me and the countless friends I made on the game. We set up groups, plans for the new campaigns, waited patiently.

We have every right to express how we feel about the game and if enough people are upset about it, they can form groups, make videos, do whatever. Just as much you have your right to not boycott it.

I was not annoyed as i didnt really like L4D to start with, but have been playing it more lately with friends.

I was then more upset as to why they couldnt of just added the content to this L4D which they could of EASILY done, we all know it, but why not charge for a new game since people are willing to pay for it.

Then someone told me about some new items they added, things going on and i was less annoyed. i wont buy it when it comes out, i will wait till some steam deal like i did l4d.

But no i wonder, with L4D2 all the promises of content and what is being added, how will that turn out....

Valve talks about being mod community friendly - BS! you know how often their game updates screw up %90 of the modding community, who then have to go back and redo all the work they did which is the work that is keeping Valve's game alive and going, ya they care!

sadly Protip3 just doesn't work in real life, thing is , companies make mistakes all the time and people do buy from them again and again. You know you will buy Episode3 when it comes out, just about everyone will. And hell look at EA... I even read article awhile back saying EA isn't the corporate evil giant anymore.

see : http://www.playstationuniversity.co...nger-the-evil-empire-of-gaming-so-who-is-809/

So... why does Valve also offer the 4 pack? I think Valve is trying to appease the community by saying yes we know we didn't give you the best bang for the buck the first time around, so here is EVERYTHING we promised and at a discount. So now 3 of my friends and myself each paid $33.75 for L4D2. they could have easily said everyone pays MSRP or 10% discount individually , they didn't and offered it at 25% discount to groups of 4.

at $33.75 I think they hit the perfect price point for L4D2.

L4D1 4pack was $150.00 last year.

No 3 friends of mine are buying Left 4 Dead 2. So the discount doesn't apply to everyone.

You can't say it's a steal at $33.75 when not everyone gets access to it.

And no, Protip 3 does work. I haven't bought food from McDonald's since a couple years ago after I found out about them from Fast Food Nation.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart anymore and I avoid odd numbered Call of Duty games religiously. I have a right to shop how I want and other people should learn to do the same.

L4D2's 4pack will be $150 just so you know when it's released. And I believe L4D last year was the same price. I'll probably buy it for 45 since I can't find enough people for the 4 pack.

It ends up costing $43 after shipping, I'll rather spend $2 more and get it on steam where I can get it the say its released and get all the bonuses.

american BAT bonus, nothing that special TBH.

Too bad none of my L4D friends plan on getting the 2nd one till after prices go down =(. So I had no choice but to get the single one for $44.

This doesn't make sense. Because the price won't go down for SEVERAL months if it's anything like the first.

that is why i waited, the hype was over, think i got it on one of those steam sales for like $19.99 or $29? either way, alot cheaper then release price for what little you got.
