My eldest just graduated and want to send him off to grad school with a new laptop.
It'll be used primarily for surfin, email, msoffice, netflix, movies (incl. dvds) as well as occasional cad apps.
The must-haves are:
-14.5" or larger (he'd prefer 15+) pretty decent quality display
- touchscreen
- dvd drive
- 6+ gig of ram
- windows 8 or 8.1
Other things he'd like include a good-sized hardrive (or maybe a hybrid), decent or better battery life.
See a number of reviews saying the lenovo and asus displays don't look that great. Is that a touchscreen thing, general laptop thing or truly asus/lenovo thing? Both have a couple decent-seeming ones but reviews are meh.
Budget is under $ 750
