Support for new GPUs (such as Kepler) in the v7 FAH client

UPDATE: When my PC doesnt decide to reboot itself for updates (grrrrrr), and is left to its own vices, it seems like this card is slightly over 20k ppd at boost clocks of 1084Mhz on the core (memory left st stock).

How does that match up with a 580?

I am trying to get my GPU working for the upcoming chimp challenge, although my GTX680 shows GPU ~30% usage the WU isn't appearing any % complete unlike the one running on the CPU. I dropped the GPU.txt into the directory too. Any help? Using FAH V7.1.52

Are you running driver version 301.24?

You may need the a_15 core from the beta group. When ChasR sees your answers, he'll be able to answer your questions, imo.

I updated to the beta driver and then removed the GTX680 from the text file and neither helped. How do I join the beta group?

Edit: Restarting FAHControl after caused it to download the FAH 15 core but then it says "11:52:33:WU01:FS01:0x15:Client config unavailable."

I didnt have to join the beta group to get it to work. All I did was add the gpu.txt file in the proper location (its not in that path initially, you are adding it so the client pulls from that list instead of its own). The gpu.txt has been updated a while ago so NOTHING needs to be removed from it as the two 680 entries are now down to the right one like was mentioned in the first part of this thread.

That "config unavailable" is just saying "the config wasn't built into the program". But the config IS available in the resource txt file.

Things have changed for the 680:

1) You don't need to join the beta group and use their special beta core, anymore.

2) You don't need to fix the resource file, because the resource file error has been fixed.

Very sorry for the confusion, but Earthdog has his 680 folding nicely, so follow his updated information on how to do it.

And don't worry about the "config unavailable" error. That just means the card needs to have the resource file.

I reinstalled and haven't dropped the GPU text file in the client folder yet, but it recognised my card anyway and got the core downloaded. Although again it is not doing anything. Although I do get more than 100% gpu usage now :S

No progress has been made for an hour now, is that normal? Nothing new in the log at all... Not sure what is wrong. This is with a clean install + GPU text file in the data folder (unedited).

No, 30 minutes maybe at most, and you should be seeing progress. Did you restart the client after you got everything set up, including the text file? (click on Quit and give it a minute to stop all the cores (although I doubt they're all working).

Then reboot the pc, and restart it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yeah, tried restarting Windows and to no avail. In the system tab it lists the GPU twice as GF114 and GF104? The clocks this time were in 3d and it said 30% GPU usage instead of that ridiculous number before...

Copy that text file, and save it to your desktop -- somewhere.

Then remove the 104 listing for the 680, and restart the folding client. If that doesn't help, put the 104 line back into the file, and delete the 114 line for for 680. And restart.

You shouldn't have two lines being used for the same card, at the same time.

I removed one of them in the text file but it didn't work, but I think the problem is it has its own data plus the text file adding in the second one. Removing the text file entirely reduced it to one field in the system info (see pics). Still, the GPU slot has been using up 30% of my GPU and 15% of my CPU for "nothing" for a long time now... If it isn't actually doing the unit, what actually is it doing?

Are there three cards in this system? or just the rage and the one 680?

Looks like the 114 line is working in the second screenshot, but the 104 is not. Try removing the 104 line, and then look at your system screen and see if the second card is listed there. (as slot 0).

Is the 680 card in the 0 (top) PCiE slot on the mobo? If not, put it there.
What slot is the rage card in, in the mobo?

The second screenshot was taken without the text file at all (If the text file is just for recognition it seems to see it fine without it). No idea what the rage is about. Only one card, the GTX680 is installed, no onboard GPU on my motherboard. Yeah the GTX680 is in the first slot.

Im confused. If you click on the link in the first post (to Standfords gpu.txt file), there is not a GF114 entry. That has been corrected and only the proper core (GK104 or w/e) is listed.

There is this one: "0x10de:0x1180:3:1:GF114 [GeForce GTX 680]" at https://fah-web.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/GPUs.txt

That is the one I removed. I didn't see two at first - one has the space in the GTX680 removed and the other doesn't.
