i am using SERVA to boot ubuntu images and it works great.

but im trying to pxe boot windows xp to a computer using a Intel D815EEA2 motherboard but all windows xp set does it show the blue setup screen, copies some files, and then shows a Windows XP splash screen but with a grey loading board scrolling.

i have tried installing the official drivers into the OEM folder and modified winnt.inf.

i am using serva32, a windows 7 netbook to act as pxe, a 10/100 dynex switch, and the computer is a Pentium 3 using the Intel D815EEA2 motherboard.

what am i doing wrong here?
 
hmm...i did what it told me to but it still wont work. its giving me a blue screen with the error message "PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED"

i notice that there are some "The system cannot find the file specified." in the log...ill be looking at those...

Forget about those "The system cannot find the file specified";
they are normal on the TFTP stage of an XP install.
Your problem is that the PC running Serva has the required "Null Session Share" not correctly configured.
If you read Serva's Aplication Note you'll see installing RIS OSs like XP require the creation of this kind of share; yours is not working. If you fix that you'll solve your problem.
On extreme cases you might need a Wireshark capture from Serva's PC tracing the NSS anonymous login in order to see where the transfer it's failing

i just got it working like a month ago. turns out, it was a ISO image.
 
Hi i have the same problem as you do.
I know its an old article but can you please fill me in on what you did with the " ISO " image that you refer to?
It seems that i missing a couple of files in my root directory like the bootfont.bin and migrate.inf and it gives me the error of " file not found " but some files are there and i still have the error.

Hi mate and thanks for the quick reply.
I followed every single step on the article that you send me and yea it works fine with the wds folder shares win vista and above etc are fine the win xp tho that its on the ris folder it always gives me the error of the net drivers on the client machine and the system cannot find the file specified on the serva log.
I have tried 2 different images of windows xp and a 2003 server 32 /64 os. it does the same in all 3 Microsoft OSs. Also i have followed the Null Share article several times and with the net use command i am able to connect fine on the serva ris dir. do you have any suggestions cause the serva people do NOT want to help if i dont have the supporter version:(

Hi again and i am grateful that your are trying to help.

Here is what i did so far, the server acts as a dhcp so yes its a static ip and gives a range of 20 ips on tftp protocol. I have added the inf, sys and the cat files on the dir that the article describes at the www.vercot.com web site, drivers were downloaded from ibm site that mach exactly the drivers for win XP OS. I have even found the RIS drivers for the network card and I still have the same issue wich gives me the idea that the drivers are not the problem. I have noticed tho that in your log file the files that are missing or it gave you an error at the time are different than mine so I am thinking, is it possible to send me via email or anything the files that are missing from mine?

Unfortunately I cannot buy a copy unless I demonstrate the software to my IT Manager and for now its not working.

Here is my log file so you can get an idea of whats going on.

re-read the directions again. your not doing them right.

look in there for something about an OEM folder. thats where you put your drivers. heres an example of WIA_RIS

and use servas "proxy dhcp" feature. serva will use the routers dhcp isntead of having setup your own dhcp server.

also, if your using this software for buisness, then please buy the full version as its going to make things allot easier for your job right now.
 
I found FIX on Windows 7 home. I had to add gpedit.msc to my windows (instruction You can find on internet - If programs doesnt start from start-> RUN; it will start from windows/wow64 folder ) and do exactly what is written here hereand after its done SHARING of serva folder should be done. I encountered blue screen several times and then I checked my null session share configuration again and I found when I made mistake. The proper sharing configuration should be started from ADVANCED SHARING -> check SHARE FOLDER and chose ADD -> name WIA_RIS_SHARE (with bottom index and capital letters) click PERMISSION and add EVERYONE account then click OK and then chose SHARE ... -> and add GUEST account with read/write permission. When I did that blue screen dissapeard and instalation begun. I can record short video what I exactly did if someone needs it.

Hello all
I am trying to install windows xp to a notpad which have no cd rom, no usb supported, and no usb cd. So thats why I tried to install by network using serva but I get this error "[06/24 13:09031.511] TFTP Err: File <\WIA_RIS\WINXP\i386\unsupdrv.inf> : error 2 in CreatFile; The system cannot find the file specified.

Please help me!!!
