Ok, so I am currently using an ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe motherboard. It says it supports up to DDR-400 (in fact I've never actually seen a board claim to be able to support more than this)

My question is, can I use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227206

^Those ram modules to their full potential?

Currently I'm using a gig (2x512) of Crucial DDR-400, with loose timings (3-4-4-8). The problem with this set of memory is that I can only run 1:1 up to (240x16) even with bumping the VDimm. The CPU can handle 250x16, but only at 5:4

My question is, if I buy that above linked ram, will I be able to run 250x16 1:1?

Again, I'm confused because I've seen DDR-500, 600, and higher, yet I've never seen a board claim to support higher than 400.

Thanks in advance for the help. --Lutzy

edit: Also, should I use the above linked ones, or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146890

^These.

Thanks again.

there is nothing official for anything past DDR400 speeds for DDR1 so you won't see motherboards openly displaying support for faster than 400.

Assuming that you don't run into any complications, the OCZ is spec'ed for 250 (DDR500)

Well, considering my board handles DDR-400 at 240, I think it'd be safe to assume that it can handle DDR-500? --Lutzy

edit: Also, my board supports both DDR and DDR-2. Which should I go with, DDR1 with faster timings, or DDR-2 with higher bandwidth? I was leaning towards DDR because of the faster timings, 2-2-2-8 is pretty damn nice. And besides, wouldn't anything above 500 make me run asynch anyways? Thanks again.

Any DDR will work. I've used PC2700, PC3000, PC3200, PC3500, PC4000, and PC4200 in my mobos (they also only "officially" support DDR400 RAM).

Man, this is such a tough decision....

Can I ask everyone's opinion on the best memory I can get right now?

I'm currently using a Pentium 4 640 that I know is stable up to at least 250x16

I'm using an Asus P5GDC-V Deluxe, so I can use either DDR1 or DDR2

So which module(s) should I get? --Lutzy

OCZ EB Platinum Rev.2 LE PC-4200(3-2-2-8) is some good stuff capable of hitting DDRII-700+. I think the highest I've had mine stable with the 3-2-2-8 timings was something like 686--almost 700mhz 3-2-2-8mhz!!! It can take up to 2.2v and still be covered by warranty.
