Someone help me to figure this out.

OK this is the problem, in some games , the game menu will only be displayed @ 640x480 ... but the IN game is the resolution I set it too.
Like in Fifa 2003 & Counter Strike the menu resolution is always @ 640x480 ... the ingame is what I set it to which is 1280x1024x32...what can cause this and how can I fix it?

I don't think you can. Some games you can (I know you can in Oni) but other games you can't (like in Counter-strike)

i think it's a safety measure... say u set it too high in game, and it craps out on u, this way u can relaunch the game and be able to change it in menu, eg. monitor only supports1024x768 and u set it to 1280x1024 and it goes outta range...
