WHen I try to install 2 sticks of 512MB PC2700 Mushkin ram, my system freezes. I know the ram is good, I just had both sticks running in an ASUS board withour issue. One stick alone works fine. 2 sticks, either in slot 1+2 or 1+3, cause the freeze.

I underclocked the ram to 266MHz and it still freezes. I bumped up the voltage to the ram and it freezes.

I called Abit and they said the board should support 2 512MB sticks without an issue, so I am going to exchange it for a new board from newegg.

Anyone else have a gig of ram or more running on this board?

Relevant Specs:
Windows XP Pro SP1
Abit BE7 Raid (BIOS:CG set at "Optimized Defaults")
2 x Mushkin PC2700 512MB DDR RAM
P4 2.4GHz B 533 fsb
MSI Geforce4 4200ti 128MB

installed Intel 845PE chipset drivers and app accelerator and all mobo drivers including HP raid.

From the "advanced chipset features" menu in the BIOS:

CAS: 2.5
Act to precharge delay: 7
ras# to cas# delay:3
ras# precharge:3

The board appears to read the memory correctly on boot (it says "DDR333" in the boot screen).
