sound skips when playing in game movies!

ever since i put xp on my system one thing has botherd me. Every game i own that plays movies from the cd skips or pauses. Is it my sound card and xp? or is it the drivers for my cd rom's? Any suggested fix?

You might want to check to see if the CD-ROM drive is using DMA. Also make sure you don't have a virus checker running in the background. For that matter make sure you shut down as many unnecessary background processes as you can.
