ok i have a hard drive here, the fujitsu MPC3084AT 8.6 (or something close) gb and this reckons,

MPC30xxAT Series - 3.5-inch hard disk drives, UDMA, 512KB buffer, 9ms access, 7200 RPM
MPC3032AT -
MPC3043AT -
MPC3064AT -
MPC3084AT -
MPC3096AT -
MPC3102AT -

7200rpm my ***!! this drive seems to be the bottleneck of my second system, as ive run hd speed and getting averages of 3mb/sec! my cdrom does better than that.

surely this cant be normal...?

Cheers, Turando

hmm... check and make sure that it's not running in pio mode or something... does it feel like your system is always waiting on your hard drive?

you can try to use atto disk benchmark and see how that performs...

of course defrag and all that sorts of good stuff...
