I was wondering if there is a possible way to backup updates you download from windows update. I format my HDD alot and soon my new computer rig will be done. My internet connection is at 56k and downloading all the updates is always a pain in the *** especially when u download the same thing over and over. Anyone know how to save them onto a cd or something?

If you look there are usually two versions (at least the big files like service packs and directx), one is small and its an installer that downloads the whole file, the other is the whole file and its usually listed as being "for IT professionals".

Actually there is a way.
1. Go to windows update site.
2. Under Other Options go to: Personalize windows update.
3. Under Set options for Windows Update: Check off Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog. Then save
4. Under See Also click Windows Update Catalog.
You should now see an 2 options
1. Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
2. Find driver updates for hardware devices.
Select your windows version and download to you harddrive and you're done.
