If I go with an ATI 9800 non-pro, would this version be any good? Only 176 bucks, so I'm a bit wary. Cheaply made, possibly?

thats the 9800 SE version...As far as I know....they only have 4 pixel pipelines (vs the 8 on the 9800np, and pro)....and they also only have 128-bit RAM (vs 256 bit on the 9800 and 9800np). basically theyre an improved Radeon 9600.

Agreed with =TriX-R4-KidS=. I would stay away from any 9800SE, as the performance is not worth the price at all. A Radeon 9600 Pro, or if you're willing to spend more, a 9800np, would be better options.

3rd opinion. stay away from 9800se unless you plan on attempting a mod to open the other 4 pipes, and even then, avoid powercolor cards entirely.

Stay away from 9800se cards entirely. Unlike the 9500->9700 mod, the risk far outways the gain, because if you can't mod it, you've just spent way too much for what little you got.

actually, if you go the SE route the ONLY one you want to try is the powercolor, its the only one that ships with at least some 256bit mem bus cards
