In the startup tab of my XP system config utlility I have a %systemroot% command called dumprep 0 -k
Did this come from Microsoft update or does someone think Im a dumb prep? That cant be right because I have a 3.4 GPA;)
Its located in prefetch, system32, and servicepackfiles\i386 which leads me to believe its from Microsoft. Whats the scoop?

edit - I found the thread for this question. Im dumb.

Yes that is the memory dump app. It is used to write a report incase of a system crash. You can turn it off by rightclick MYCOMPUTER>PROPERTIES>ADVANCED>STARTUP AND RECOVERY Settings. Then uncheck the box for Write an event to the system log.
Hope this helps.
