Much as we all hate it, Windows crops up to blight our existence at some point or other.

I can live with mine, as long as it looks like this.........although I find myself opening the Command Prompt and typing in Unix commands at times.......

Install Cygwin. Cygwin rocks.

Here is Cygwin on my laptop:

cygwin was the only thing that kept me sane when using windows at work. If you just full screen the bash terminal you can almost fool yourself that you're on *nix
