I have run into some wierdness while overclocking. I can get to 3ghz with a 5:4 divider and GAT set to ANADD. My bus is at 250 and ram within spec at 200mhz. I can't seem to get past 250mhz bus at a 5:4 divider so I tried 3:2, but something wierd occurs. Even at 250mhz fsb at 3:2, my PC just keep rebooting. I didn't change anything but the divider, so my ram is running BELOW spec at 166mhz. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? I'm using stock cooling btw, could that be the reason I can't get beyond 250mhz fsb with 5:4 divider? Thanks.
 
have you tried updating your bios? might provide better stability using deviders...
 
perhaps try the other two slots for your ram. some boards have a good set and a not so good set.
 
Set your cpu strap to 800. I know its logical that if it runs at 5:4 it should handle 3:2 but ram runs different on different boards. If I were you I would try and stick with 5:4 and use memtest to find highest overclock for your ram.
 
As discussed in other threads there is a problem with certain motherboards the p4 and the divider especially with ch5. I have an AI7 2.4c and with hyperx 3500 I only could go to 250 with 3:2 and that unstable. With bh5 I can go 5:4 over 285 only limited by my cpu. Testing the limits of my 3200 bh5 I can go 243 1:1 2 2 2 5 but any relaxing of that timing (even at 243 )and the system will not even boot. Both effects are reported by others too.
