Ok I hardley ever have netowrking issues, but this one has me stumped....
I subscribe to high speed line. The advertised speed is like 4Mbps. Now all I am getting is:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Connection is:: 3019 Kbps about 3 Mbps (tested with 1013 KB)
Download Speed is:: 369 KB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 54 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.78 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=2FNOR2A4K

Were do I tweak my settings to allow more bandwidth. Also how do I save my current settings? So if I do reowork the settings, I can revert if I don't find the settings useful? I just need a jump-start, not full run-down, but full rundown would be nice. I just never had to use this feature in XP so.. I just don't know.

I know there is other traffic in my neighborhood. I am an Owl for the good speeds. No router, shared connection. XP-Sp2 VIA RhineII Ehternet Adapter My firewall is Mcafee PF Plus 5.0.5.7

You can't get any better than that. There are no settings other than the 10/100 half/full duplex modes, but I'm guessing your's is on auto and it working fine... Try testing at a different time of day.

Well the rated speed of my line is 4Mbps. I did a reload and the speeds dropped like a rock.. :(. So I figured, I need to reset somethin to whatever I did before. Had the yearly full reload thing and been so long...

try this utility: http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe

it will optimize all of you network settings and is simple to understand.

also remember that 4 mbps is the advertised maximum rate and that is not a guaranteed rate. it may be significantly lower during peak hours, depending on the amount of traffic if your neighborhood or local area...

I have been suspecting a slower connection after my format and did the average during different times to make sure. Before I was averaging 3.5-3.8.
It was the MTU settings, not sure exactly when I did the settings originally, but it's been over a year ago, and I forgot. I wrote the setting down and saved them.
Thanks,
mbently that prog. did the trick! Now I can surf in bliss.
