IGN just released their Game Awards for this year: http://bestof.ign.com/2004/pc/

Half Life 2 cleaned house winning Best FPS, Best Graphics, and PC Game of the Year. It was also runner up in Best Story and Best Use of Sound.

Rome Total War also won Best Strategy Game and Best Use of Sound, as well as runner up for PC Game of the Year.

They seemed to do the games justice this year. Very well picked, IMO.

I agree, almost all of those would have been my picks as well. It was nice to see Sid Meier's Pirates get an award.

Yeah, like I said it was nice to see it get an award. I had a lot of fun playing it and it was very original.

Anybody played that game they mentioned in their "most innovative" category... Perimiter? Sounds interesting.

Wow, Tribes Vengeance won 2 awards, and one of them wasn't multiplayer!!

I agree more with gamespot's choices. They chose HL2 as best shooter of the yeat, but for overall game of the year of all platforms they chose World of Warcraft. And that's what it deserved.
