Overclock Succesful No Speed Improvements

I have nortwood pentium 4 3.4 with a asus p4p800 e motherboard and have been able to overclock succesfully to to 3.8 but have some utilities that give bench scores for speed test based on math computations on the cpu and they do not show any improvements. Would you please comment on this. I am a stock trader not a gamer. If these benchmark test do not show any improved results are you actually doing anything by increasing the cpu speed.

Which benchmarks are you using to test it? Some benchmarks are based off of the graphics card or other parts of the system instead of the CPU.
