What do you want to do with the new rig?

What onboard features are you looking for?

Are you planning on OCing?

Are you buying a complete rig or re-using some existing components?

What do you want to do with the new rig?-
Mainly gaming most new games hl2, doom3, halo and a lot of internet surfing

What onboard features are you looking for?-
onboard features- onboard sound well most mobos come with it

generous usb's

Im not sure about pcie or ddr2 if they come readily
available on a good mobo at a reasonable price then yes.

Stable running no major issues with mobo e.g. cold boots

Are you planning on OCing?-
Yes i would like to oc but i i have not very experienced as the rig in my sig isnt very ocable.

Are you buying a complete rig or re-using some existing components?-
I will be reusing optical drives, hd's and if i cant afford a gfx card then my current onewill be used until i can buy another one and case.

Take a look at the Epox Pro line, the 8RDA3i - Pro sells for $62.00 US

It has all the features you're talking about & the new MCP-S South Bridge that has naitive SATA controller & RAID options that you might use later. It also has a decent OC BIOS from what I hear.

Yes its SocketA, you said you wanted to keep the price down & newer boards will cost you a lot more $ than a Socket A based rig. Put a decent CPU in there & you'll have plenty of power for gaming - a Mobile Barton would be the best as they're unlocked & OC better 2.4-2.5Ghz is usually not a problem.

New PC

I would recommend the following going with 64 bit 754 pin system
MSI Model: K8T NEO-FSR 754 pin about 70.00.
AMD 64 ADA 2800 about 130.00
1 Gig ram about 150.00
ATI 9800 PRO about 150.00
Throw in a Seagate 80 HDD with NCQ about 90.00
This rig will rock on most games.
Trust me I built one.
