I'm having a hard choosing the right memory for my computer :bang head . I'm looking to buy 4GB (4x 1GB) DDR PC-3200 but don't know what to choose between:

Geil Ultra Series Value Dual Channel 184 Pin 2GB(2x 1GB) DDR PC-3200
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-144-322&depa=0

pqi TURBO Series Dual Channel Platinum Kit 184-Pin 2GB(1GB x 2) DDR PC-3200
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-141-182&depa=0

OCZ Value Series Dual Channel Kit 184-Pin 2GB(1GBx2) DDR PC-3200

I have a MSI "K8N Neo2 Platinum" with an AMD 64 3000+ winchester, with Enermax 600-Watt Power Supply. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

In my opinion your are contemplating a very costly mistake. First with four sticks of 1 gig each your system will ony recognize and use 3 gigs. (It's in the manual)Next, it will only run at 333mhz. Lastly, it will run at 2t timings and will not OC to speak of. I don't see any reason to spend all that money for zero gains. I would suggest you you settle for 2x1024mb. It will run at 400mhz and if you get the pgi or the Ocz it mmay run at 1t. Good luck.

The reason I want to put 4GB is so I can set the virtual memory to zero, which is going to improve system performances. If the memory is double-sided, then by putting 4 sticks it will results in 333mhz of speed. But if the memory is single-sided, with the same setting it will be 400mhz of speed. Now "FarzBar," I like the memory you showed me, and I'm really thinking about getting it. Now from what I said, what you guys think I should do, what memory should I get (XMS, OCZ, KINGSTON.....), even if it's only 2 GB, and how should it be set. Price is not an issue, but I would invest $500 to $600 at most.

I almost forgot, but stick would be better, a stick with tccd chips or UTT chips, and which ones would advice me to buy?

Are you planning on overclocking? and are you planning on getting 2gb or 4gb? (sorry your last post metions 2gb thats why I'm kind of confused)

Reason I ask is that I can give you links(I'm a noob) to people who have overclocked on 2gb (1gb sticks) and the ram they used as a reference (I did a little research(small amount) on this until found out hl2 sucks on 2gb).

Okay, you should not spend a fortune on ram in order to disable your virtual memory. The difference in performance is close to meaningless, and some programs require the the virtual memory. You don't even need to get 2 gigs of ram for gaming as 1 gig will work fine. I'm not saying 2 isn't helpful in some games because it may be, but for the most part 1 gig is good.
What to buy? Either get UTT ram and an OCZ booster (as UTT needs more volts tahn your board can provide to really shine) or tccd ram.(which works well on modest voltage) If money is not an issue you should look at the GSkill 4400 LE (it's hard to find in stock)

or the OCZ VX Gold
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-227-204&depa=1
The difference between the two put simply is that the tccd can clock to 300fsb with loose timings, and the UTT can get to 250 with low latency.

yeah, I'm planning on overclocking. I will use 2GB of memory (2x 1GB). I need to find good TCCD just like the GSkill 4400 LE but instead of 2x 512mb, I need 2x 1GB.

First I want to say I agree with rseven. especially about the amount of money. I know nothing about the pagefile thing so I have no comment on it. They do mention it in links I'm providing, but I never found out who was correct.

I'm personally interested in 2gb as well, but waiting to see how this new venice plays out before deciding what to do [4 sticks might end up being better].even if hl2 takes a hit or not(there's a debate),2gb is better for apps and in the long run for future games that might come out.Of course, you have to also consider that by the time new games come out that require 2gb there might be new technology. And also these sticks that you are paying so much for will be cheaper by then. You have to weigh it for yourself if its worth it for you. I'm still not sure. Personally I think I rather take it a step at a time(if I can depending on Mr.Venice), thats alot of money for just smoother desktop performance.Anyhow Here are the links:

I saw a impressive oc on these ocz sticks as well:

wish I could find the link though. Not sure which forum I saw it in.

One more thing. The patriot low latency ram I linked to earlier- I have not found anyone ocing with that so don't know how it will perform. The guy who was ocing(with the patriot memory) in the above links was using a different patriot memory with higher timings.

One more edit :) :

I'm not sure what you want these for, but if its for gaming here is a link on 1gb performance vs. 2gb performance for hl2. If this game takes a hit, other games MIGHT (not for sure)as well. I guess you would need to check it out for the game your interested in.

my mind is set on getting 2x 1GB of memory. Now looking at the performances of TCCD chips and UTT, I prefere to get the TCCD over the UTT as I don't wish to involve myself into moding the voltage for the moment. Are the OCZ with TCCD chips, if not, what other good memory with TCCD chips would you guys advice me to buy?

Sorry to say that the tccd does not come in 1 gig sticks nor does the UTT. For 1 gig sticks the PDPthat that Farzbar linked in his first post is one good choice , though it's timings are not correctly listed at Monarch. The OCZ he linked in his second post is another good pick. (FarzBar you really did your homework!) I'd also add this PDP as a third choice. (Hey, I have to show I'm not sleeping on the job! LOL)

The rest is up to yopu, the decision that is. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I ordered the OCZ last night and got me the last pair as they went out of stock right after my order. I can't even wait till they get here. Thank you guys for all your help, you guys saved me a lot of trouble  :D
