I'm getting an AA8 3rd Eye Board, and I just noticed it needs a 24 pin psu, now can I just use a 24-20pin adaptor, or do I need a native 24pin PSU?

Also I have been out of the PSU game for a while. Can some please recommend a good PSU for 100 - 120$?

Fortron Blue Storm 500W.
ATX 2.0 Native.

$89 at newegg...

saw some other place, $89 SHIPPED... but its out of stock EVERYWHERE.... the bluestorm is what ou need

unless you WANT to use an adapter ::shudders::

bump anyone else have suggestions, seeing I can't find the blue storm in stock anywhere, and I am a little hesitant to buy it seeing it is said to be a 500W Psu. yet the PSU clearly says and is rated for only 460W

In the absence of the AX500-A, I'd suggest either of these Fortrons:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-104-932&depa=0
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-478&depa=0

Note that it is Newegg claiming the AX500-A is a 500w unit... Fortron themselves have never made that claim themselves to my knowledge. The spec sheet states it to be rated for 460w at 25 degrees (and is actually underrated, as SPCR found out when they ran it to full power at much higher temps).

The 460w model I linked to is an EPS server unit - it's quite similar to the AX500 in power output, except it has active PFC vs. passive on the Blue Storm. It's the retail version IIRC, which comes with a 24-20 pin adaptor and 8 pin 12v to 4 pin 12v. The 550w is the OEM version, and may not have these adaptors.
