The fan on my VA4-C7040 broke. Most people around here don't use it so here's a link... http://www.vantecusa.com/product-cooling.html. ATM, I'm using one of my case fans: http://www.svc.com/80comaneledc.html. I just used masking tape to put it together. The cooling it provides is pretty bad, 48C idle @ 2500mhz. So, I'm forced to run at stock for now. Anyway, I'm looking to put something else on it which can give better cooling and so I can return the case fan where it belongs. I'm thinking buy a Tornado 92mm, since I'll be upgrading to A64 soon, it'll be pointless to buy another Socket A HS. This would be used with an XP-90C when I decided to upgrade. So, I'm just wondering what I should use to stick the 92 mm to a 74.5 mm heatsink?

I'm not even sure this would be possible. With this, I'll need a fan controller. I'm thinking of going for the Vantec Nexus over the Sunbeam since I like how it looks more. What's the difference?

Since I'm upgrading my case fans, I might as well replace some of my case fans. I have 2 of the Coolermasters on front intake (currently 1, obviously) and 3 of these which came with my case...

# Fan Specs:
- RPM 2000
- CFM 17.3
- dB(A) 25

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=91082

I was thinking of buying 3 more of those Coolermasters, however I saw these... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835150007
I'm sort of skeptical about them though... anyone else around here have them?

what you can possibly use to stick on the fan to the heatsink is some strong doublesided tape or possibly velcro. b/c their sticky sides are VERY sticky.

and sinse my last rig was a xp-mobile 2600 i was using the SI-97 for my heatsink and i know you said it wasnt worth getting a new heatsink for the socket a, you can scout around on the calssifieds here and/or scout around on ebay for a cheap si-97 and provide good cooling until you go to 64-bit

Yes, the Delta's three blades make make great HS fans. I'm using the 80mm High Speed and have a 92mm High Speed on it's way.

lol it sounds like a vaccum cleaner!
i might just go with the delta's... especially after hearing that wav.
but this might sound kinda stupid but which is the more popular pick between the four... the tri-blade ones? btw, ppl dont order from newegg as often as before? i didnt have the internet since last october so i kinda behind on things...

also... no one has those masscool fans?

You cant go wrong with any of the deltas. Just pick which ones suits you best. You can view other deltas at sidewinder also. I just picked the 4 best. (IMO)

Maybe you could look at the SI-97A, which is socket A and Athlon64 compatible. This way, you could use it on your current rig and a future S939 setup as well.

The nexus will go down to about 6v, whereas the sunbeam can go to 0v.

Is that supposed to be good or bad? As long as they don't make too much noise, the should be better than these - RPM 2000 - CFM 17.3 - dB(A) 25 in my book

just like your average case fan. dont' believe all the spec's you read, especially the dba rating. Trust the experience of those who have used them. This forum is great for that.

Yes, many companies are known to distort stats in order to gain a bigger market. Delta, by the way, is not one of those companies. Their CFM stats are on the conservative side.

I went shopping more and I found these...
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/pa80br.html
They seem pretty good and quiet. Anyone have these? I'll probably get the same performance as the case fans I have now, without the sound. Too bad theyre way more expensive than the Masscools. I'll never make up my mind... =\

I've also decided on Sunbeam Rheobus.

http://home.earthlink.net/~alvinflores/IMG_0683.gif. What can I use to cut them? I'm 16 years old and I live in the city, so the chances of my using any power tools are slim to none. Antec has that other way to attach fans so i can't put any grills/finger guards on them =\

This is my case, ATM. Pardon the crappy wiring organization. :p http://home.earthlink.net/~alvinflores/IMG_0684.GIF. The fan which should be inside the HD cage is on the HS now (Which is the reason for the Delta). Any other ways to increase the airflow in there?

Good choice. :)

Panaflo make very good fans also. You should be fine.

Try to find a pair of tin snips at a local hardware store. They should be around 10 bucks, and should do fine. (but may not be as neat as if you used power tools.)

sorta old thread and i didn't feel like making a new one since the topic is still relevant. lol

anyway... i finally got the triple blade delta and im pretty pleased, went from 48 idle to 41 idle with it. the fan adapter doesn't fit on my heatsink but i sorta got it to work. i also got the 3 panaflos but i dont have any 3 -> 4 pin adapters to use, so i gotta wait for my fan controller... im not even sure if the connectors are going to reach? omg what am i gonna do!?! (serious)

it was supposed to come today...

not that neat but hey, at least it got the job done.

also, i have this on order... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118214

now im going for a new vga cooler. im looking for something thats good for the future. if not i would be going for a silencer. atm, i'm looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118117
what do you think i should do?

I have the same fan and I just ordered this controller.
http://svc.com/ald-v01-u1-19.html
It looks like quite a deal and it comes with extension cables.
VGA cooler wise I have the silencer and I don't think it's a big step up from stock except it is quieter. I here thermalright is coming out with a vga cooler, but I haven't seen it yet.
Enjoy your new rig.
