AV710 question

So I just got an AV710, and am setting it up.

I want to get the best possible audio out.

I have the speakers plugged into the 7/8 output, and the audio deck set to 2 channel high quality. In foobar2000, Kernel Streaming gives an error message, anbd ASIO4all plays but no audio comes out. Directsound works fine.

What do I do?

You need to set foobar to output 24 bits and 96khz. To set it to 24 bits go to preferences in foobar. Then click on playback on the right. Under output, select 24 bit padded to 32 bit (you have to check "show all options")

To set it up for 96khz you go to dsp manager in preference. Select resampler (not pphs) and select 96000 in the target sample rate.

Here's a basic guide on setting up the av-710 under foobar. Though the guide uses headphones instead of a speaker system, it should help give you a general idea of foobar settings.

Is there any reason why one should not use PPHS?

It's not supposed to be as high quality.
