I have tested that a few times on different cpu's and have found that blowing down onto the cpu is better in all tests I did.

Which way should my cpu fan face, cold air onto the heatsink or hot air away from it?

Try this, blow on your hand.

Then suck air from your hand.

Which one do you feel more?

Thought so....

I get better temps by about 2-3C by having the fan blow away from the HS, but my pwm temps sky rocketed so I wound up just putting a fan blowing on the pwm area.

how i visualise it is that if you have the fan suck air from the heatsink, there's a large deadspot on the bottom of the fins since the air is being sucked up and out, its not gonna fill all the gaps like it would if you were to blow down on it, even though there's still bit of a deadspot its not as great as if you were to have the air blow away from the heatsink
