Looks like a nice driver release!

As with most Catalyst® releases, performance has increased in various situations.

Improved shader compiler and transform engine optimizations have led to many significant performance gains in OpenGL applications across the entire Radeon® X1000 series of products. These include:

Doom 3 performance improves as much as 6.5%
Quake 4 (v1.2 or higher) performance improves as much as 18%
Chronicles of Riddick performance improves as much as 20%. Average improvements of 5-10% are commonly seen
Prey performance improves as much as 16%

Optimizations made to ATI's graphics memory manager have led to significant gains in DirectX applications that make heavy use of graphics memory on 256MB ATI graphics cards:

-3DMark06 performance improves as much as 22% on single ATI Radeon® X1000 series cards with 256MB of graphics memory at 1280x1024 and higher when anti-aliasing is enabled. The largest gains are found on the ATI Radeon® X1800 series and ATI Radeon® X1900 series of products
-Call of Duty 2 performance improves as much as 30% on single ATI Radeon® X550 cards or higher with 256MB of video memory at 1280x1024 and higher when anti-aliasing enabled. The largest gains are found on the ATI Radeon® X1800 series and ATI Radeon® X1900 series of products

This driver is officially available on ATi's home page. I really want to try them out but my system is down at the moment. :(

Does it auto-downclock when a movie is played inside a game?
I thought that issue was related to having ATiTool installed/ startup services disabled, not related to the drivers themselves :-/

6.8's available here, and yes, they are mislabelled once installed, but that is explained here

EDIT: seven stars, babae!!! :attn:

**** it, I'll install them and give it a shot. I love being the test dummy.

Oooh new drivers :) We like new drivers hehe

I'll give it a shot either tomorrow or late tonight if I'm sober enough :)

BTW The downclocking issue it happens when movies are played. The issue resides with ATITool as there must be some sort of bug with 6.4 and up that was causing the issue of it downclocking and staying that way. BTW Its not a service issue as if services are disabled it takes effect either way its a driver conflict with the software.

I dont notice much FPS diff, but I do notice better IQ in fear which is impossible it was so good before, and improved IQ without fps loss is always a good thing.

One thing I do notice is the QUICKNESS in which CCC opens now...

anyone else notice a speed increase in CCC? maybe thats the increase they were talking about lmao....

Hmm, when using 668/792 clocks compared to my 675/805 clocks, I had only a slightly lower 06 score, yet I had more frames in test #1 on the lower clocked card with 6.8 compared to 6.7 at the higher clocks. Can't compare equal clocks because 675/805 was unstable. :p (my card likes the memory, but not the core)

edit: 05 score went up. 12,170 @ 675/792 (6.7) to 12,176 @ 668/792

Nice! I ought to try these out. The one that was the latest last week, whatever it was made Windows BSOD and I had to revert to a much older driver. I have an X700 Pro. Hopefully these will work and I update this driver. :D

Right... driver conflict with software, meaning no prob if you do not use ATiTool. That is what I was trying to get at....

Additionally, 6.8 chuck patch here

Got 'em installed myself, BF2 seems as nice and buttery as ever...

Been out of the loop for a bit...forgive me if this has been asked, asked, stickied, and pmed to every last soul, but...

The normal/regular/old control panel's back, right?
