They are roughly the same price and I currently have an AM2 socket board, but I was just wondering in the actual difference of the two, if anyone could clear it up I would appreciate it greatly. :)

The FX-72 is a Socket 1207 CPU.

On the bottom:
"Don't expect a game designed for the weakling Xbox 360 CPU to stress any modern PC processor."

FX72 is a dual CPU @ 2.8GHz/ TDP 125W/ L2 2MB cache
Q6600 is a quaddie @ 2.4GHz/ TDP 95W/110W / L2 8MB cache

FX72 should be about the same as the Q6600 on anything that only uses 1/2 cores. However, if you go into something that requires less watts, more cores, or more cache, then Q6600 is the way to go.

If you are gaming however, then the 1GB of RAM might bring you down.
