I got most of the stuff from another thread I saw that had the price in my range. I will get the OS and Monitor from Best Buy probably. But are there any tips or anything Im missing that I should know about? Anything at all really Ive never done this before and decided with my birthday(17) coming up I should give it a shot. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: links should be working.

If I was going to spend that much money on a case, I would get a CM Stacker.

Do you have a reason for choosing the X38 motherboard? I would still recommend getting a P35 chipset.

save the money go with p35 your not gaining anything from x38. cause 1 you have a NV card and X38 right now isnt allowed to do sli from NV. 2 your going with ddr2 so the gains of having x38 for any performance increase is out the window. you miss linked the ram but i would suggest these sticks though, best part they are $129 for 4gig kit ddr2-1000 sticks.

That PSU is serious overkill for your computer and I'm not familiar with the gameXstream line. I'd read This Thread and pick a PSU based on those recommendations, even a 520hx is enough to power a quadcore gaming comp. For the mobo x38 isn't really worth the price unless you're getting DDR3 and an Extreme Edition CPU for benching, for us mere mortals p35 chipsets are generally better bang-for-buck wise, especially if you nab some good DDR2-800. Speaking of ram, that 4th gigabyte wont be usable unless you go 64bit on the OS and that's a whole new set of problems. As far as cases go it's largely a matter of personal preference but the Antec 900 and CM Stacker are among the best when it comes to structural integrity and airflow, they both get so much air that as long as you keep your cords tidy it's like an open-bench setup.

You're also going to need a heatsink, I think I speak for everyone here when I say your best bet is probably the TR Ultra 120 Extreme.

I will look at the PSU and a heatsink when I get home. I guess I need to order fans aswell. Do it all when I get home.
