raid1 with 2xwriteSpeed=readSpeed anyone knows?

Hi,

I read on wikipedia that some raid1 implemetation use the fact that there is two images to accelerate reads, and thus have a read speed that is twice the write speed.

Does anyone knows which controllers/software raid work this way with raid1 ?

You'd have to check the details on each RAID controller but in gnereal I'd say a simple rule of thumb would be that true hardware-based cards do this and most onboard does not.

yes, most good cards will read from both drives, so reads can be faster but writes slower of course.

I don't know which are the good cards. They all look the same to me.

The ones with onboard processors and memory are the good ones. Cheapest I've seen is 150+.
