Hey Guys, I am putting together my older gaming tower. Here are the specs.

Dell Precision 670
2 Intel Xeons @ 2.8ghz Socket 604
3GB DDR2-400
Stock Xeon Coolers with AS5 applied
XFX 9800GT

I ran Prime95 for a few hours and the Xeon's sat at 70C Max. Are there ANY aftermarket coolers for this board/socket?

IIRC, it's not only the socket, but the chips that will matter on the heatsink. The Prestonia and Nocona (sic) processors were both s604 but took different heatsinks.

Orbit micro sells some socket 604 sinks, but mainly for rack server use.http://www.orbitmicro.com/global/

Could you swap the cpu fans for a little more airflow? How's the airflow in the case?
With some measurements and shopping, I'm sure something will work.

Are those the heatpipe coolers? (I saw a pic on e-bay)

Your problem could be the case airflow. What are your temps like with the side open?

IIRC those heatpipe coolers aren't that bad, in fact I almost put them in my old Prestonia rig. Trying to find aftermarket coolers are a pain to find for those. It was easier finding ones for my dual opteron set-ups.

The tests were taken with the side of the case open in the first place. :p probably should have mentioned that. Ran the tests again. Still sat at 70 max the cpu/case fans(they are the same thing) never got above 2200 RPM. I almost would like to see easily over 3000. That would certainly push more air. I am thinking some new fans that are molex powered and run max all the time are in order ;)

Edit: Well the fans are 92mm :p Newegg has tons of em :). I'm sure I will find one that will work. :)

Edit2: I think that this setup would work lovely :)
