Case modding suggestions

I PIcked up a old silver case a while back and i had some ideas of painting it and putting a window in it and everthing but how would i go about modding the front its like this http://computer-scrap.com/images/atrex/case-usd-sr1211nx.jpg and the part over the card reader slides up and down i wanted to cut on it but that doesnt seem possible so is there anything that can be done to it madding wise?

I would say at least paint everything to match. I think it would look cool to cut out a windows in the bottom half of the front of the case and replace it with wire mesh. Then you could through a cool LED fan in there or some lights. Or you could cut two smaller vertical windows on either side of that silver thing in the middle.
