Holiday Upgrade

I'm thinking of upgrading my mobo, CPU, and video card come Christmas over here; but it's some pretty powerful (and expensive) stuff. I'm wondering if the stuff I'm looking at is too much for my 730 watt power supply, or if I'll have to upgrade that too.

I know the 5870's already taking up something ridiculous like 500 watts, and the CPU 140; that leaves me precious little for everything else in my system. Is there a chance I'll overdraw my power supply, fry my whole system, and be down $1000, or should I spend a little more to stay on the safe side?

730 watts is plenty for that system .But im not sure that id trust a Raidmax PSU.You may wanna upgrade that to.

maybe something like this would be better

My personal pick would be this one.I have the 850 watt version and its awesome.I wouldnt trade it for a 1000 watt psu unless i knew for sure it was of the same quality

Raidmax hasn't failed me yet; as long as 730 watts is enough, I think I'll only upgrade the PSU if I wanna Crossfire another 5870 later.

Anyway, thanks a whole bunch. Now to find somewhere that actually has a 5870 in stock...

edit: Ah, those all look great, actually. The second Corsair looks like it'd fit within my price range and I'm familiar enough with the company.. Thanks.

Im glad its working for you..Good luck finding a 5870 in stock(not being sarcastic).Maybe a 5850 would be easier to find.I here the 5850 sticks right with the 5870 with overclocking

Typically a 730w power supply would be more than enough... but we are talking about raidmax...

You would do well to get a good branded power supply such as a Corsair, antec etc...

I think a corsair 650TX would be perfect... with room for expansion
