This is certainly a first for me. Some of the genuises in the Pre community came up with a patch that gives a pretty good OC. Evidently the CPU was originally designed to run at 600Mhz but some of the early yields were dying very quick deaths, around six months. So Palm decided to clock them down to 500Mhz. Being the Ocer I have been for the last few years I figured what the heck. I have been running it at 600Mhz for a couple weeks now and the performance is a lot better. I am not that worried about the life as I doubt the phone will live that long without some other failure anyways thanks to the completely lackluster build quality on these things. If they ever get the GPU online this could be a pretty quick little phone.
