Guyz,

I want to chnage icons tht i get after clicking "My computer", i.e, My HDD and Optical drives...

Now, i do know how to change icon via registry, but it involes adding/creating a new folder named "Explorer.exe." manually.

Now, i knw a backdoor virus named explorer.exe as well, so if i manually create such a folder in registry will it anyway make it easier for any virus/attacker to gain control of my PC easily ??

You need more info - tell me

PS: i have already tried the same on my spare HDD and icons are working great, but i am worried abt security (if its related)

Instead of manually editing the registry, why not just use My Drive Icon to change the icons?

This software does not support Win 7, anyways thx... i just gone ahead and changed it manually via registry.

That software does support Windows 7. You have to right-click and "run as Administrator"

I had changed some using windows 7 mgr but not all as some of them were system locked files it seemed. If you notice some things simply cannot be deleted in 7 (unlike xp). I gave up worrying about misc tweaking. Windows 7 is as much a pita as is xp ever was minus a few drivers from windows update.
